Smile Holidays was established in 2005.
MISSION STATEMENT
Smile Holidays aims to provide meaningful respite holidays for adults with
mild to moderate learning disabilities, mental health issues and
older adults which promote choice, social inclusion and independence
and actively promote their rights and dignity by:
Actively involving clients in decision making
Remaining responsive to the changing needs of the individual
Offering the opportunity of informed choice
Developing new life skills and experiences
Maximizing social experience
and participation
We ensure only a maximum of 8 clients are supported on their chosen
respite holiday break and encourage holiday clients to realise their
potential and offer real life opportunities. To participate in the
community and in the holiday group with support from two caring
Smile carers.
Principal Carer/Registered Manager
John Turnbull is the Principal Carer/Registered
Manager of Smile Holidays and leads all the holidays. He has over 35
years’ experience in the care profession and has comprehensive
training in all areas of care.
Our office holiday coordinator, Donna is a
knowledgeable administrator who oversees the day-to-day running of
the office and coordinates all the clients’ holidays throughout the
year. Donna, occasionally joins us on group and day trips through
the year.
Smile training and development
Comprehensive training is available for all Smile Holiday carers to
enable them to support and understand the various needs of the
client holiday group.
Holiday venues and excursions
Smile Holidays Principal Carer along with our Holiday
Coordinator/Office Administrator visit all holiday venues and
excursions prior to commencement of the clients’ holidays to ensure
the appropriateness and safety of these and to complete risk
assessments where necessary.

Clients medical consent form, accident incident forms, holiday risk
assessments forms and confidential complaint forms are available
throughout the clients’ holiday.
Holiday client information
All information kept or received by Smile Holidays on holiday clients
is kept safe, secure and confidential in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
